I have a d5100 but no macro lens for it yet. In the meantime i have always used my phone for pics, just a older LG enV Touch. 3.2 camera
So one thing i do for better pics of a frag is.
regular unedited (only cropped to fit forum) photo

my method, this is just a cheap 2x magnifier, 4x and 8x work amazingly better

while it's not some amazing photo, it is a definite improvement for under 5.00

Interesting, I may try that and see.
I've also read that its possible to flip your lens around and take better close-ups but have no idea myself...just what I've read.

Honestly, I think you'd be much better off using your DSLR, even if you don't have a macro lens for it. The resolution on that camera is high enough that you can easily crop the photo and still have a much better quality photo than you're going to get with your cell phone. Unless, of course, you're aim was just to show what can be accomplished with a cell phone and magnifying glass.

Yeah just trying to be helpful with ideas for people.

I have used this idea before and it works well for a phone. Is there a good setting on a phone to help with all the blue in our takns?
