cheap powder blue?

i wouldnt necessery look for cheapest, esp. for power blues aka ich magnets. I would go with a DD powder blue because you know they QT'd them atleast a little bit. Id also QT yourself. HTH

do you suggest quarantining him in the sump or perhaps in a separate hospital tank when the time comes. before the return is reached water goes through a skimmer...cheato pump and two canisters one with a pressure sensitive mechanical filter and a bioball / carbon canister.

Always always quarantine in a tank separate from your main system. Ich cysts (eggs) continually fall off there host hatch and spread from one fish to another FAST. If you were to quarantine in the sump and it did breakout on the new fish it would surely get into your main tank via the return pump. Not only that but if ich does rear its ugly head it’s a lot more treatable with meds (coppermine) or hyposalinity which you could not do in the main tank.

ive never had an issue with ich. and i know its best to quarantine every single fish before adding, especially tangs which are the ones who seem to be the most succeptible to it. the quarantine tank is only 12 galons which is on the small side however and was wondering if just keeping him in that for a week wouldnt cause more harm than good....

What other fish are you planning on stocking? PB's can be very territorial and maybe one of the last fish to stock depending on the others you are planning for the tank.

well the owner deffinately knows he wants a PBT and a YT...PBT might go in first and the other last.

mostly reef safe fish otherwise currently already in there is a tomato and anemone pair and a mismatched percula pair along with a blenny

id remove the tomato becuase it will eventually kill the percs. Also I believe all tangs should be added together? I cant remeber though i dont keep many tangs. But in order to keep aggression down i think that is the best way to go, esp for 3 large tangs in a 165.. IMO it isnt enough swimming space for all 3. Id keep that in mind. Not saying it cant be done, but they could end up stressing eachother out and causing non stop ich outbreaks. Powder brown or blue btw? brown is gorgious but hard to keep long term.

If you end up doing both a PBT and a YT add them together so one doesn’t get an established territory over the other. Both can be aggressive and territorial especially the PBT. JMO

PBT not yet added but will follow advice and qt with some copper i guess when he will be if infact that will be the route chosen. at this point considering a hippo as well.

another ich magnet:) id go with a chevron they are amazing, but be aware of the adult coloration, i think they are stunning but to each is own.
