Here is my sump idea with fuge and skimmer. Will this be succesful with 5 gallon buckets? Money is quite an issue lol.

why not just use a big rubbermaid container, it would probably be cheaper. Make sure to double them up.

no, not for leaking possibilities, i was just saying for rigidity (if thats even a word, lol). Anyway just to make it a little bit more rigid so it doesnt flex as much when full of water.

even if it is only a 37g tank, i would still go with a rubbermaid container over two 5gal buckets. Maybe you guys arent thinking of the same type i am, i am not talking about the rubbermaid stock tank, but i am talking about something like this

oh, I see. You had me scared there. I still am a little concerned that my heater would some day melt through my container.

i would prefer those rubbermaid ones but i need to measure out the size in my stand.. it is very cramped and also a bowfront which makes it different too

oo, well i have no use with using one of them, but have seen many people on here use them as cheap sumps, i will try and find a picture of one in use... if you are worried about the heater, you could always make an acrylic holder to keep it away from the plastic, but i dont know off hand, but that may not even be a problem with them...

yup, another thing i was thinking with the 5g buckets, what would you use to connect them? PVC with a uniseal? If you do go that route i would connect them at the bottom not the top, JMO though.
