Cheato Infestation

I am running algae reactor with cheato. somehow cheato migrated to my display tank and took a hold on rocks. pulling it out doesn't work as it just grows back on exactly the same spot. I haven't seen anything like it... Snails don't touch it. Would adding a tang help ( I don't have one now) ? any other ideas?

I've never heard of this happening myself. We have cheato in the fuge and whenever I clean and dislodge some it ends up in the display. I've never had it stick around though. We do have tangs that pick at it. Especially our sailfin so maybe it would be a good idea....

If you have a tang, most of mine eat it... never actually seen cheato be able to take hold in a display especially when running it in a fuge.

Pics? Makes me wonder if it's not chaeto. You should be able to remove it without issue.

it grows on rock. this is a highly magnified pic, the white thing you see on the cheato is a copepod.

Not sure that is actually cheato..
But I think a tang or two.. or algae blenny would help a lot..

Looks pale, as if it's dead. Maybe a dislodged piece that made it's way into the aquarium and got caught up?
