Actually now that I look you can see that in the original photo
the "stick" of LR that it is on is very visible and is covered in
second, also note the LR exposed in front in first that is "lapped"
in second!
I'm a little concerned, how big do these guys get?
I have Nova Extreme 4 bulb T5s.
Just dose with Calcium strontium magnesium.
It does clearly "eat" more often than anything (besides the
fish) in the tank
I have those in my tank & they grow huge & spread fast. They got too big so was going to get rid of them, but my wife really like's them & wanted to keep some. I got out the frag supplies & made her frag 'em. Now I'm keeping one & getting rid of the rest. I've never seen mine eat, I guess I'll have to try to feed them.
Looking at your pics, apparently I have one of those as well. Please tell me, what do you feed them and how do you feed them??? Looks like it eats similar to an anemone, is that the case??? I've had my Rhodactis for about a month now and I feel really bad that I've never fed it.... Any info. would be greatly appreciated!!
There is one of these in my tank right now. Had it for a couple of years. It is about seven inches in diameter. I have it fairly high up in the tank, so it's receiving a lot of light (for a mushroom anyway). My guess is it would easliy be eight inches in diameter if I moved it down a bit so it had to stretch for more light.
Thanks for all the compliments.
With regard to "feeding" it, I make no special attempts
to target feed. It is a very common sight after normal
daily feeding of fish for the shroom to "bubble up" like
the above photo.
I have it located in a prime spot that I would normally
reserve for a "showy" piece, but when I put it in the
tank it was one of the very first pieces. It has done so
well I hate to move it.
My biggest concern is that it will get too big. I guess that's
a good problem to have.
i have about 7-9 of these in my tank that ive never feed. They have colored up and grown huge just from my pc lighting. i use one 65w daylight, 1x 65w 50/50, 1 x 55w 50/50 and a 20w actinic flouresent bulb on my 30gl

I've had one of these mushies for 2.5 years now. Came as a freebie attached to the foot of a Sarcophytum leather I bought. It has never reproduced but has grown massive. A good 10-12" across at least. I feed it occasionally on krill ever since it ate my porcelein crab. Here's a picture of it although its not completely spread out here as you can see from the polyps being so close together. You'll get an idea of scale though from the 2" percula clown who enjoys teasing it:
If you have any sensitive corals nearby it might be a good idea to move them as it does sting. Seems ok against these other Rhodactis mushies but when it touched the discosoma above they died.
I have numerous of these in my 125. my largest is 7-8". It is one of my favorite corals. I also have an elephant ear mushroom that is over 14" across and growing
