I may get this as it's within my targetprice range and I'm tired of calibrating my refracto: http://www.ocreef.com/milwaukee_instruments_seawater_salinity_refractometer

The new Milwaukee MA887 Seawater Digital Refractometer encompasses 3 different types of user selected scales for the measurement of seawater providing for a much more precise evaluation. Each scale is temperature compensated.

1. PSU – The newest type scale standard – Letters stand for Practical Salinity Units and is fast become the universal standard for seawater measurement
2. ppt – The old standard of Parts Per Thousand of saturated salt. This is the oldest of the 3 seawater measurements scales
3. S.G. The current standard of Specific Gravity hydrometers and refractometers.

The Milwaukee Instruments MA887 digital refractometer is easy to calibrate and easy to read and provides highest accuracy possible for the measurement of seawater 3 specific scales. This is the type of accuracy demanded by today’s professionals and Milwaukee Instruments delivers.

If anyone has one or has used one, let me know of your opinions. I've heard it's better than the pinpoint salinity monitors.

Thanks,
Joe

Hmm not bad, the price is deffinitly attractive. It's cheaper than the refractos I've been looking at. I might have to get this myself :)

Funny but I hardly ever need to calibrate my refractometer. Checked it with 53 ms calibration fluid and also distilled water and had to calibrate maybe twice in 7 yrs.

I have used it... it works quite well as long as you regularly calibrate it. The digital readout is awesome! :)

I ended up getting one and love it, so easy to use, accurate enough for me. I test it against an expensive refracto we have at work and it's always spot on, I think once it was .01 off but that's no biggie.

I love mine and use it all the time. It is calibrated with distiller water.

I even dropped mine in a bucket of water and after it dried out, all was well. Don't recommend dropping it in water though :)

Great you all. I just bought one. I wonder what the "Difference" between the Milwaukee and the Hanna Salinity Meter is... other than the extra $100 that it costs, it appears that like they work the same.
