Checking my light levels

I read the article about lighting Tridacnids at the top of this forum, and I just wanted to check with you guys to make sure I had enough light. The tank is 135 gallons is 24" deep, and I have 4 96 watt P.C.'s (2 actinic and 2 daylight). I was planning on starting out with a T. dersa. Is this light strong enough if I place the clam in the upper third of the tank? Eventually in a year or two I was planning on upgrading my lights by adding 2 400 watt 10k Hamilton M.H.'s along with having the old P.C.'s. Should I just wait untill then to get my clam? If I did have the M.H's, I could have a crocea then, right? The next question is not light related. Is it true that clams absorb amonia and nitrates, and that they do better if their system has some amonia and nitrates in it?
Sorry about all the questions

Should be okay for the Deresa.
If you did have halides or T5s, Croceas can be kept.
CLams do absorb ammonia and nitrates, but not at a level significant enough to notice a difference.

i wouldn't do it and you don't have to go to 800W's of MH lighting to keep clams. derasa clams get quite large and are harder to keep up on the rocks.

clams utilize nitrogen and phosphorous and can take the elements directly form the water so you wouldn't have to worry whether the system has some, if there is life they are there.
