HAHAHA, got ya in here. Hey can anyone help me my frilly mushrooms are turning white and dying. I dont know why all my water parmeters are great, Im running two 400 watt mh. where ever i put them in the tank they just seem to get smaller and whiter. every thing else in my tank is kicking butt. HA like anyone is going to want to help me after the subject joke.

Easy - Use colored Sharpie for more color and dose Vitamin C for stronger immune system.

J/K :D

I wonder if they're bleaching out due to high MH wattage. I'd try placing them on the shade for awhile to see if there would be an improvement. HTH.

I had the same problem with some Hairy Mushrooms under 250w HQI. I turned the rock they were on to put them in the shade. Over about a two month period I could see the color returning. I left the rock oriented like that and today they look great.

Yep, I have hairy mushrooms that did the same under only 2x 250w mh, in a 55g and they bleached and shriveled to nothing. In fact both the hairy colony and the frilly colony did. Then I upgraded toa 120 g and now have 3x250 but it is a much bigger tank, and then put them in the shade, under my overflow box, and just in the last month you would never know there was ever a problem. The frillys are now bigger than they ever have been, and the hairys are completely huge and covering the rock they are on so much so that you cant see the rock anymore. Ive found that mushrooms like the darker areas. Just like the mushrooms on land, they like shade too.

you have heard everything you need to hear way way to much light for a shroom of any kind and make sure you levels are correct. Also make use it's not going to war with a local coral or another shroom.

My hairy mushrooms were miserable in even medium flow. I put them in a low flow area, and they opened up a lot. It could be a combination of light and flow that are both too much for your 'shrooms.
