I just dosed chemiclean in my 55 to kill of cyano outbreak.
I know that you have to oxygenate more than normal during the process. I have a pump/airstone that was all set to go, and then was not functioning so is trash.
As an alternative, I took off my skimmer cup and cranked up the overflowing bubbles from the skimmer. Seems to me to be way more aeration than a simple basswood airstone.
Is this enough? I'm not worried about not skimming right now as I only have 3 small fish in the tank. Not much bioload, and it's only for 48 hrs*max.
There are so many bubbles form the skimmer (SCA 302, which is rated at 180 gallons in my 55,) that the tank even has tons of microbubbles. Thoughts?
