If you've got a huge tank , it doesn't matter so much - but in a 55g, I'd make sure I found juveniles. Juveniles can be identified by being about 1 inch or less from tip of nose to end of tail and being irresistibly cute As long as the other fish are juveniles, one fish can be an adult and it will assume the male role
