I have a tradewinds 1/3 hp on my 75 gall, with a Silent se T4 (100 watts of heat to water), and a silent sea T3 (another 100 watts of heat to water), and about 550 watts of light. My chiller usually comes on for about 30 minutes every 2 hours. I had an issue with the chiller when I first got it (frozen compressor), called Tradewinds and they fixed me right up I like it, it pulls about 6.3 amps during operation. Not to bad on electricity bill.
I have an aqua-logic and it works great. I am buying a arctica 1/5 HP for another tank and I am interested in which one will be quieter. I definitely know when my Aqua logic is running but it pulls down temp fast.
I have the 1/5 hp Arctica Titanium Chiller. I have only had it now a month. With pretty good results. Ease of hooking it up, noise. Havenââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t got the electric bill so canââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t complain there yet. It maintains an even temper. Over all I would say pretty happy with it.
but i have a aqualogic which, imo, is the gold standard for longevity and performance. http://www.aqualogicinc.com/chillers/index.htm
my 1/2hp is noisier than a freight train when running but it doesnt matter in my situation as all my equipment is remotely located in the garage.
Just got the JBJ Arctica chiller 1/10HP (DBA-075) and pleased with it. Small foot print, quiet, and has onboard temp controller. Also, included are 3 different hose elbows for different dia. hoses. A 2 year warranty is good to.
