Chiller Drop-in Vs In-line

Time to replace my chiller for the third time. I have always had the drop-in style and they only last about 3-4 years. So I'm starting to think in-line maybe the way to go for longer life span.
My loads are all to the spec's so I do not think I'm over working them. Also brands better than others. i have Aqualogic now and it is toast. Thanks

Not sure my AC guy said it has a leak but has not been able to find with dye. Should chillers last longer than 3-4 years?

Yes, seal refrigerant systems should last leak free for 20 years. The fan on the condenser is the only thing that should fail and thats easily replaced. The refrigerant system is essentially the same regardless of the type of chiller. Have you always had Aqualogic chillers?

Yes that is the only thing I can think of is the brand. I just do not have good luck with them. It my be me but not sure how. The load is ok, unit runs about 20-30 min every 2-3 hours. Mabe it's the drop-in style. I think I will go in-line next.

I was trying to think through anything that might cause that style to be more failure sensitive and the only thing that make sense is hitting that coil with something and punching a hole in it. You dont have that vulnerability with the in-line style. I have heard that the coiuls are pretty robust though.
