My nano tank has temp problem due to the 150W HQI and T5s and so I am looking for a chiller and don't know which one that I should get - can you recommend a good one for my tank?

Thanks for your help.

I was having some heat issues w/ my 25 gallon aquapod... the new maxi-jet raised it by a couple of degrees and it was already a little warm as is.

So I was looking at a chiller, but instead thought I'd try a fan. I went out and got a $15 "16 fan from Target and put it right on the tank and now I'm at a cool 80 degrees constant. It's quite perfect actually. I don't like having the fan there, but saving me a few hundred it's worth it.

Just thought I'd throw that out there :)

Most people seem to run fans. I don't know what your set up is like exactly, but computer fans work very well.

They don't draw much power and are small, cheap and readily available. Good luck.

Yeah, I was going to go the computer fan route, but my problem didn't come from the lights, but the pumps rather.

I didn't expect to see much results from the fan, but I was suprised. Within hours the temp came down to perfect.

I don't even have it blowing on the water.. just on the glass mainly. Seems to wisk the heat away.

A fan over the water should be able to lower the tank temp by a few degree's. On my old 55 I had them on timers with my lights and had an ATO system so I didn't have to worry about the extra evaporation.

Most pumps, like the Maxi-Jets can be run out of the water. You just need to rig up a little basic plumbing to have the intake and outake into the water. This way your pumps won't heat the water. I do this to help eliminate more heat before it can even enter the tank.

i posted a thread about this 2 days ago. there is a poll on nano reef about chillers. I ended up ordering the 1/10 hp prime.
