Chiller or AC room???

My system will be enclosed in a shed in the garage. Would it be better / cheaper to temp control the room or the water direct??

600gal system total with 1x400wat MH

It's cheaper (more efficient) to cool the water than cool the air to cool the water if that's what your asking. If you use a chiller, be sure that you exhaust the condenser air to the outside if you can.

my opinion-cool the air-you still have to work in there, why be hot when you can kill two birds with one stone? As far as efficiency, there's alot to take into consideration, each case would be different-room size-tank size-how hot the room and tank get-I went with the split a/c-by the way Kona, much respect, your corals rock brotha-;)

I cool the air.. Much cheaper.

My tank sets against my garage wall so I just built a small insulated & unclosed shed also and ran my AC duct to the shed. I put a shut off flapper valve dew to the fact that the water was getting too cold as my heaters keep coming on, so I have the valve partly closed.

It's all tied into my house AC unit so very little extra cost. In the winter I shut the valve and let the tank heaters do the job.

Cool the water, think the glass that surrounds your aquarium is a insulator and at a 600 gallon tank this will be thick glass (insulator). Also water has thermal mass, very dense so it is hard to extract heat from it.

Is that a 600 gallon or a 60 gallon tank??!!
