I am in need to replace a 10 year old chiller which is not doing so well any longer. What I am looking for is a chiller (about 1/4-1/3 HP) for a 300 G system (we don't get hot days here so I don't need to go to 1/2 HP). The key components is reliable, quiet and efficient. The problem is that everyone says they are reliable, quite and efficient so without personal experience with the different units it is difficult to tell one over the other.

Do you have any suggestions, one chiller over another?

Thanks,

Hi Kenneth,

The good thing is that you have a few choices, I have personally used the Artica Titanium 1/3 HP chiller Found here https://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~idProduct~JB1117.html this is a very quiet chiller, please keep in mind, noise is a very subjective matter. But over all this is a very quiet chiller. Another one I would recommend would be the 1 / 3HP TECO SeaChill Chiller TR20 found here https://www.marinedepot.com/ps_View...Greater_With_Built_in_Controller~vendor~.html according to the reviews it is a very quiet and efficient chiller.
Both chillers are rated and will work great for your size tank. I would tend to go with either one of these.

I hope I made a difference, let me know about the order you want to place so I can add you Keychain to it

Question about the TECO chiller. I notice that it also supports an integrated heater; does the heater get plummed inline or does it sit in the sump like other heaters?

Hi I'd like to share my experience with my JBJ 1/10th chiller.

I just recently installed it because I'm on spring break and its really quiet. i'd have to say that my ER skimmer is way louder than it is. As for efficiency I can't comment on that I have to way for the electric bill to come in.
