Chiller selection for 165 gallon

Looking for advice on a chiller I need to cool my 165 reef. I live in Portland, OR area and can keep the tank under 80 with 2 fans. I want to install an in-line chiller but am limited to 6 AMPs or less on my circuit.

Tank is in my living room so I'd like it to be quiet, plus my sump is kind of small limiting the size of pump needed to feed the unit. I figure 1/4 will do me fine. Can anyone suggest a good, cheap, quiet unit?

Thanks,

From what I know and the chillers I have seen, they all are a little loud and will create a smaller room to heat up fairly quickly.

Thanks for responding. From what I've read in specs and such, the 1/4 HP operate at 42 db. I'm not sure how loud that is but will check with my LFS and get an idea.

I don't mind the room warming up as we have air-conditioning. The tank water itself is my critical concern, as I lost several softies and had some bleaching in my SPS as a result of a fan failure.

Deltec makes a chiller called the eco-chiller. Very low energy use. Noise should be low on them as it either has 2 fans or 4 fans depending on the model you use. But it is pricey.

I have a JBJ Arctica 1/3 hp for my 180 gallon, and the aquarium and chiller are bothion my living room, and the chiller is very quiet.

I just added a 1/4 Pacfic Coast last week and it is quilter than two Ice Cap variable speed fans. It does add a little more heat to my room but my tank never cracks 78. Evaporation has also gone way down resulting in less salt creep.

BTW the chiller shipped was less than 600

Great feedback thanks. Pacific Coast seems the least expensive, but I've read how incredibly quiet the JBJ's are. Anyone have any familiarity with ECO PLUS from Sunlight Supply? No reference to them on their web site.

My electricals require something which pulls less than 6 amps. The ECO Plus 1/4 hp pulls only 4. I'd like to know how quiet they are.

Thanks again. I'm newish to RC. Great resource.

I just purchased and ECO Plus 1/4 and I'm sending it back. I bought it on eBay brand new but when it arrived I found the unit was poorly put together, the front grill fell right off and the compressor looked like it wasn't bolted in correctly and was causing the front grill to bend. I didn't even bother hooking it up. I'm shipping it back tomorrow. I didn't find any reviews on it either but for the price I thought perhaps I'd give it a try. Maybe I can save you some trouble. Not sure if mine was a lemon or that's the normal way the product is made.

Now, I'm in search for another chiller. Good luck to you with finding yours.
