Chillers for sale?

Jeeper in my free time
Does anyone have a chiller for sale for $500 or less? A friend of mine needs one, and asked me to keep an eye out for him. I've seen a few threads lately, but wanted to start a new one for simplicity.

Thanks,

Matt

How big you looking for? I practically stole my 1/10 from Dr. F&S, was 331.50 +tax&s/h and after the 15% off, shipped for $298. I cant even hear the thing on with the fans in the house, real quiet and works great :)

PS, Btw, dont tell dots! :p

Justin,

How do you like the 1/10 and do you think it would be enough for a 100g? My tank is reaching 89.5F today but thankfully it's in the early stage with a few damsels only.

I ran a 1/15 Current Prime on my 92 for a while. It was just fine, but it tended to run a long time during the hottest part of the day.

I run a 1/5 HP now.

It's apparently the highest BTU in it's class, and Pico ran it on his 90g, although it's rated for a 75 and under I believe, or is that 50 and under? I think for that size tank you'd be better served with the next size bigger just so it isnt running a handfull of hours at a time. I only am testing it with a super small pump something in the area of 170gph when it calls for a pump between 200-700gph. But even with that pump it pulled my water down on my 50g from 84 to 83 within 30 minutes. When I get it fitted right I anticipate a degree drop every 15-20 minutes and will be able to keep it sittin pretty with a flux of 81-83. I know if i wasnt running it, even with the fans on my tank woulda spiked to 85, it was already at 84 with about 4 more hours to go of full lights.

Sounds like theres quite a few local deals posted too, that 1/3hp is a helluva deal. Dont let the wattage of those bigger chillers scare you. Better to chill it fast with alot of juice at once, rather than slightly less for most of the day. What innitially may seem cheaper in the short term can really bight your arse in the long... ;)

I just bought an used Universal Marine Industries 1/3hp chiller from the bay area for $350. It comes with temp controller and it works beautifully.
