Chillers

I am looking to add a chiller to my system. Need one that is relatively small, very quite, and doesn't use a ton of power. I am currently running a 125G with total water volume of about 185G and plan on upgrading to a 180 next year which would bring my total volume to about 240G. I need to reduce my temp by about 4 degrees.

I don't know anything about these so any advice would be great. Also let me know if you have something that fits this description for sale.

They call that a fan . A chiller is going to make some noise, and will also use quite a bit of power. The noise is comparable to a small window a/c unit when they kick on, and you can expect around $30 to $50 a month in power consumption. They also put off a lot of heat into the room for you house a/c to cool. For that size of system and 4* cooling needed, you will need a 1/4hp. I would suggest using fans on a thermostat switch. Fans can easily cool 4*. The 1/5hp one in the link above is not big enough to do the job if you go with a chiller. I use a 1/4hp Pacific Coast chiller on my 30gallon because it sits in an un airconditioned room and my halides would boil it without the chiller. I like mine, but it does make some noise, and cost about $40 a month to run.

WOW...$40 a month seems like allot. Fans aren't enough. I am currently running 2 120mm fans blowing over my MHs and 3 80mm fans blowing down into the tank from the top of the hood with 2 additional 3" ports on the back/top of the canopy to vent. Even if I leave the front of my canopy completely open my tank will still reach 82.5-83*

I am using a RK2 which is set to shut down the MHs at 83. If I leave the canopy closed it will shut them down unless I keep my house around 75* which cost the majority of my right arm.

It will be in the pantry of my kitchen so it is ok if it makes some noise, not like 5 fans are silent. I just don't want something that will make my entire house hum.

The pantry is a doubtful spot unless it's a walk in closet. I don't think i could put mine in any kind of enclosed area. It sits in a 9x10 room, and when it is running, it gets hot in this room in a hurry. It needs fresh air like an A/C return vent does. It can't have anything in front of it, and it blows heat out the back like a space heater. I have gotten used to mine, but when i first got it, i was not happy with the amount of noise. They all say they are quiet, and i have nothing to compare it with as far as another chiller brand, but it does take some getting used to. The $40 a month is just going from my old average bill to now. I don't want to know what it really cost to run or i would unplug it lol.
