Hello all,I'm in need of some help and information about these Chinese made led's. I was hoping someone can guide me or show me how to make it dimmable,I tried searching the forum, but with no luck. This is my first post and i just normally read all the other post on the site.I'm new at reef keeping and have still a lot to learn.so please if anyone out there has had to create a dimmer for this light,I would really appreciate ur inputs.

Most of the chinese lighting fixtures are NOT dimmable they use non dimmable drivers. Unless you are willing to rip into the light and replace all the drivers it is impossible. Even if you were willing it would take a wiring diagram a electronic schematic and a great deal of money. Probably would be very difficult to aquire what you need and probably cost more then what you paid for the light itself..

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it is what it is!

wait what led light do you have? they are all dimmable just about. You might have a very cheap unit. You will indeed need to put in dimmable drivers, it will be simple probably, just the reconnecting of wires, youtube should have some videos

I guess its the earlier generation of Chinese made led,and its true u get what you pay for,I was just looking to see if it was possible to dim it,since its so bright.it was one of my first buys getting into reef keeping, its currently lighting a 20 gal.long,I'm in the process of building a 56 gal.rimless starphire and have been doing my homework on the kessil a350w.none the less I was still trying to salvage the Chinese made lights to make it a little more bearable in regards to intensity of the spectrum.I have checked you tube and haven't found anyone directing on installing drivers on them yet.

check out sunbritelighting.com i am in no way affiliated with them but they have a very reasonably priced product that can dim and be programmed.

the f series is what i am talking about.

riftkeeper,

This should work

Here is an easy inexpensive way to cut down on the amount of light of the led's in your tank, and I would think it should cut down on the brightness Go out and buy some screening to cover the top of the tank, This will cut down on the amount of light that gets into the tank, after the first layer if its still too much then add additional layers until you get the amount of light you want to get into the tank.
