chip out of stream cord. Bad?

i just noticed today that one of my stream 6100's has a sort of chip out of the outer black covering of the cord. I can see a what wire. Is this a problem?

Yes, eventually water will wick down inside the cord and cause shorting of the driver or motor, the pump should be replaced.

I believe I read somewhere that that plastic dip stuff is reef safe... could save your pump.. if you care enough...
