Ok here is the picture. I took with with a flash as that was the only way to see what was really going on. It looks worse in the image than it feels when you touch it. The chip itself is fairly shallow but I didn't realize there was superficial chipping so far up in the pane until I used the flash.
I would use it. Mine has a chip too, but on the top corner. If it's a concern you could strip the caulk out and cover that spot too when you reseal it. Just an ideal
That shell is not good , trust me get either the panel replaced or the tank but coming from someone with a lot of experience with tank assembly and design that she'll is risky
I called around and I couldn't find anyone who was willing to try to fix the tank. Some glass places offered to get me a sheet of glass but I would have to put it together.
I know alot of people on this forum have made their own tanks before but what are my chances of being able to fix this tank given that I have never done it before. I have a cousin who is pretty handy that would help me but that is about my only option.

I am actually an idiot. I looked at the tank more closely and its actually not the bottom panel that is chipped but the side panel. Im betting it wouldn't be that expensive to get a piece of glass 18x18 to fit in there. Maybe I'll even put a starphire front in it . Sometimes you gotta make lemonade...
So the chip is on the bottom corner of an 18x18 side panel? I'd definitely just use it. It barely appears taller than the bottom pane and surrounded by two silicone joints.
I chipped my 60 gallon getting it out of the truck pretty much in the same spot just a little higher. Thankfully it was in the back so I just added a good amount more of silicone to the inside and outside. No problems for over 2 years now .
