Hello

Does anyone have experience keeping this beautiful fish? Are they jumpers? I understand the major issue is getting them to eat. I am planning on putting this fish into a 300 gallon reef. I have plenty of sand, live rock full of pods. I am wondering if I should treat it with Prazipro prior to going into the DT. I understand they are prone to carry worms. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

A buddy and me each got one. The fish birth died within 24 hours. I guess it is true the don't ship well

In the past I have kept them for up to about 6 months. My last experience in November the fish only lasted a week.

They are a challenge, but if you can get two of them to pair up they make for an amazing addition to your aquarium.

8 months for me then it died, but I will try again. They will also jump, mine did a few times that I know of due to my tang but I have a screen on top.

3 weeks for me. I would definitely treat and hope you have enough pods if it's not eating prepared. Also try training if it is not eating prepared. Mine looked healthy and happy and WAS actually eating prepared foods. I think internals got him. I didn't treat trying to minimize stress to him but it bit me in the back!

I bought a Kuiter's wrasse feb. 12 from divers den (cal.) which is very close to what you want. this is my second try. first one was small, maybe 1 1/2". it arrived in very good condition. it wouldn't eat for 4 or 5 days. it started eating well about one week after it arrived. It lasted a total of 2weeks. the one I have now is larger, alittle over 3" I would say. It also arrived in good condition. put it in my tank(300 gl.) & disappeared for way over a week. I honestly had written this fish off as a lose! these fish aren't cheap...$130 for the first & $160 for the second. anyway one day I finally seen her, probably 10 days had gone by. I tried feeding this fish everyday with a turkey baster filled with mysis, NO LUCK! 2 1/2 weeks in it did start eating a small amount. after maybe 3days, it started eating with the big boys!!! this fish has made an amazing turn around & I believe it's changing into a male which is even more good news! I really believe the larger size is the secret & buying a good healty fish like I have gotten from diver's den, calif. I do like the croat's & they had them also when I bought my Kuiter's at that time. the best time to look is on friday's it seems. anyway, my fish is honestly like a dog.It follows me around & isn't shy at all. 3 large tangs( yellow, chevron, hippo) & large regal angel.... this fish knows how to take care of itself! it does a funny spin-around move & goes head on when trouble comes...weird!!!

Same experience as me. I got one and within 24 hours it was dead.

Awesome story

I'm not too good with adding pictures here.... always have trouble but here goes another try. 100_0437.jpg

I just lost mine :( Had him for eleven months. I understand that they are sensitive to alk swings and believe that may have had something to do with it. After a 20% water change which raised my alk from 6.8 to about 7.5 he laid down on the sand breathing heavily. He seemed to have recovered two days later and started swimming and eating almost normally. A week later he laid down again and never recovered.

I am bummed. He was my favorite fish. I'll definitely try another if I can find a healthy one.

Here he is. Choati.jpg

beatiful fish!!! I thought they were more orange. I like the red color. I will say I don't think it was the buffer because I recently adjusted mine more than you with no ill affects. I'm thinking about catching my Kuiter's & treating for worms. I beleive I can scoop her up at feeding time. I was wondering if worming should be done every so often?(4-6 months)
