Choosing Fish for 28g

[Ambition]

In my pursuit of choosing fish for a nano aquarium, I feel that I keep running into a compatibility issue either in the form of aggression or the fish fitting into a tank mates mouth.

The last list I had put together was:
Pair of Gold Assessors
Pair of Green Band or Neon Gobies
Trio of Threadfin Cardinalfish

Someone pointed out that the cardinals may eat the gobies if the opportunity presents itself. Would the cardinal be less likely to eat the goby if it were a neon goby, a known cleaner, or should I look into something else besides a cardinal to go with the other species?

I have a tank raised yellow assessor from ORA. Great fish. However, I don't have experience keeping them in pairs.

I had a trio of gold assessors awhile back, and they were great fish with a ton of personality. They are one of my favorite fish because of their personality and swimming pattern.

Green banded gobies have so much personality especially when they are feeding. I'd take one any day over a neon or shark nose goby.
