Christmas Island Trigger at LFS!

This is a really cool fish, my LFS got ahold of one and they are selling it for $999. Their specimen is about 10" long and very healthy. They say they are semi-reef safe like the Bluejaw and Niger. I read in an article that only about 5 specimens had been collected as of Feb 2010 and only out of the Christmas Islands. It is a real one too lol:thumbsup: I just looked it up and found a reputable article with a picture. Identical fish.

I will be visiting the store soon and will get a picture of it to post if anyone is interested. I didn't have my camera with me.

Has anyone else ever seen this fish in person?

I ended up going back today. Heres a couple pictures. It was feeding time so theres brine shrimp all over lol

It's a lovely trigger that's a great tank citizen. I keep mine with a couple of Zebra eels, a Griffis angel, Declivis butterfly and some smaller fish. As these are deepwater, I keep the trigger at 70F and it seems to thrive. It eats aggressively; I feed PE Mysis, krill and various frozen foods. It's favorite treat is taking a large raw piece of shrimp, destined for the zebra eels, and devouring the shrimp.... tail and all!

If you have the room... buy the fish. They are fantastic!

Its a beautiful fish and I really wish i could get it, but I only have a 120 wide, not really enough swimming room, I wouldn't want to subject it to that. Maybe some day though!

What size take do you have yours in? I'm thinking of adding one to my 300g FOWLR but am researching before I do.

I thought Liveaquaria has had trouble selling theirs. It's still on divers den like forever now. Price is way too high for a dull looking fish. I don't care how rare it is.

I think it's a sweet looking fish, but also really like sargassums and the tail on these is bright! I've been drooling over the divers den one but it's way out of my price range.

It most certainly is a gorgeous fish... and you can't beat trigger personality. I'd have to go back and check my records, but I'd say it's been with me at least 20 months.

It lives in a 175 bow front, but is getting upgraded to a 340. It's also smaller than the other specimen, about 6+" or so......
