$90 would be obsurd to ask for it. The nice thing about this forum is helping out other members to obtain pieces for non-commercial prices. ATL asks so much because they need to make a profit to continue operation. I've bought and sold corals for reasonable prices and its a great way to grow the hobby. If this coral is on the rarer side, I'd say $50 MAX. You have to take into consideration how expensive it is to ship overnight for the normal person. If you are not shipping it and selling it locally you can adjust the price. I always lowered my original asking price if I knew I had to ship it, or throw in a couple other frags if you got um. I understand that it takes time to grow out corals and you too have bills to pay, but to gouge other members is a bad way of going about the hobby...not saying that you are, just stating my point of view.

yea man, I have never been one to stick it to a fellow reefer. I understand ATL is a business and has an overhead. I always viewed this hobby as a hobby and not a way of making money. I usually give away more coral than I sell. To see someone leave the house with a big smile on their face is more rewarding to me than a couple bucks in my pocket. I posed this question to get feedback on a fair price, I have been going back and forth with it in my mind.
Selling some frags of a really nice coral and putting the cash towards an mp40 is a motivation. Letting frags go for cheap and spreading them around for others to grow out and do the same for others is a motivation. IMO 90 bucks for a frag is ridiculous

I didn't mean to direct my views at you. That wasn't my objective. Like I said I was just openly stating an opinion. It was merely for other people who viewed this thread to see it. Some people unfortunately do prey on people who don't know any better to make a buck.
It was a fair question. I had problems figuring out how much to charge something. I usually tried to see if anyone had anything similar they were selling and if it seemed right I would go with that price.

ATL frags are still way overpriced. In the past, they had the really hard to find, collectible corals that would command that price. Now you can attain the "collector corals" from fellow hobbiests for a fraction of the price. Are they still making a significant profit off their corals? I understand they are a business with overhead, but some of their highest priced frags you can easily find for $25-$30 on boards like this or even other vendor websites. The Christmas Mirabilis is a beautiful coral, and I may even consider paying $90 for a 1-1.5" frag/mini colony like ORA frags, but not for a 3/4-1/2" nub. I have heard that ATL had branched off into other buisiness ventures that focused on plants/Hydroponics more so than Saltwater and coral goods. That was about 2 years back, don't know if that is still the case.

ATL has been pretty substandard lately. I think vivid has been growing in their SPS collections with "better" prices. I've always had best success with corals from fellow reefers though, they are more resiliant to changes in my opinion. If only liveaquaria would step up their sps game.

I normally sell frags of anything that is an acro for $10-15. Some really slow growers I'll bump to $20. I'm not really doing it for the money, just feel people take care of things better that they pay for. Also I kind of want something since if someone is coming over for frags it means I have to adjust my plans. If they buy a few fragsthey normally walk out paying somewhere between $5-10 a frag since I cut some deals when they are buying more. JMO...I wouldnt charge more than $20 a frag.

Colony still has green at the base where it is encrusting the rock in shaded area. Tried to get a pic of the base but couldnt get a good angle on, besides my photo skills are, well they stink. Curious to see if the frags green up , some previous ones did. That was before the coral was identified. A buddy gave me two tiny acro frags that he aquired from a fellow reefer. One was red planet and he couldnt remember the name of the other. I contacted the reefer he aquired the frags from and asked the name. Turned out it its xmas mirabilis from atlantis. Looking on Atlantis web page they believe rotifers are needed to keep the green. heres a couple pics
