Chromie with big spot

I bought 3 chromies 5 days ago at my LFS. One fish developed a big white spot 2 days later. I moved the three new chromies and my other fish, a royal gramma into a qt. I have been treating with matachite green for a day. Today the fish with the spot died.

Can anyone advise me on whether I should continue the MG treatement and when I can return the other fishes to the display tank?

I took the fish to the LFS and they said that it was not a disease but rather a bite from another fish or maybe my sally lightfoot crab.

We will see what happens?

I just finished writing an article on this - but it hasn't been published yet. Virtually without a doubt I can tell you that your fish died from a protozoan infection known as Uronema. I'm hardly ever that positive when it comes to diagnosing fish diseases from a picture, but this is pretty cut and dry. People almost always term this "mechanical damage", but it isn't. The Uronema protozoans are actually intercellular, if you watch the development of the lesion it is from within, rather than from outside working inwards.
In terms of a treatment? It is extremely difficult to treat. Many public aquariums are using chloroquine phosphate. I've tried malachite green - limited success. Forget about copper or hyposalinity - they do not work for this problem.
