Chromis eating welso!!!

so after seeing a corner of my welso start to die off, I was wondering if my water parameters are off but everything else in the tank is nice and healthy, but today I caught my blue/green chromis nipping at the corner that is dieing. I find this very strange because I thought they were reef safe, and it doesn't touch any other coral in the tank. Has this happened to anyone else?

Trachyphyllia radiata is what thedasher is referring to I believe, often referred to as Wellsophyllia or Wellso Brain Coral.

Could be the Chromis or it could still be something else. The Chromis is either picking at the Welso and killing it or it is just picking at the dieing flesh. As a species blue/green chromis tend to be reef safe, but the experience you have will depend on the personalities of your individual fish. This goes for all species of fish. Some people have had tangs that will eat corals while others can keep angelfish in full reefs.

Yah this was definitely the chromis because the other half of the coral was nice and open and healthy, but what's weird is that it never picked at any corals before.
