Chromis will die?

I recent have 5 chromis in the tank. I heard that some will be killed in the shoal after some time. Is it true?

i had 1 chromis out of 5 disappear within 24 hours of being in my tank. all the other chromis' where picking on him. never found him after i turned the lights off.

You could be lucky - I was for the first 18 months with the 4 I added. I couldn't understand why everyone kept saying they were a problem.

I do now. Lost one, so added two. Then lost another. And another. And another. All to the same modus operandi... seperation from the group followed by slow starvation as the isolated one seemed to lose the will to live outside of the group.

I have two left now, and will not be adding any more...

sjm, you're doing something right because I have heard that very few people have luck shoaling chromis. I tried it and lost all but one.

I would not add less than 5 if you are going for a school. If you add 10 they will school in most cases.

I have 2 survivors of the initial 5 in my home tank... a 90gal. If I had a huge tank I would love to try a school again.

I seem to be lucky with fish. No problems with my Chromis, my 6 Line Wrasse is very docile, My Flame Angel, Coral Beauty, Bellus Angles dont nip, nor does my Foxface or Pinktail Trigger.

ive been told 3 is a gd number to keep!! had mine for 6 mounths with no probs and my m8 has had 3 for 3 yrs now with no losses!! and they all seem to be very happy!!!

Everytime I put the green chromis in my tank I always end up with just one. After a while that one dies too. I will not be adding any other chromis in my reef because of this.
