Chromy going to die I think...

Well, the pet store has been holding my fish for about a week. I put my fish in the tank a few hours ago. I took a look at my fish and they all seem to be doing great. However, I have this Chromy that doesn't look so well. Looks like he's missing scales and he's breathing hard. He's also in the same spot. Am I going to lose him?

I'd turn off the lights and let him chill. Check back in the morning.

You can do water tests if you think it might be a chemistry issue, but it may just be a rough acclimation. The good news is that when he's dead, he'll let you know.

If you can, I would try to avoid having LFS hold your fish. Setting up a quick and simple QT would probably work and then your fish would be under your care and observation. Some stores just have too many fish coming and going to effectively handle every single fish. Especially if the fish aren't theirs. Just a thought....it varies from store to store though.

Thanks for your input. My chromy made it through the night and he was swimming around and breathing normal this morning. Glad he's OK.
