ciliate culturing

I'm asking out of curiosity, but who here has tried culturing them, and what types/species? Any comments about your experience are welcome too

I tried culturing them in a baby pool outside. They handled salinity fluctuations quite well. Unfortunately, I started it last last summer and lost them due to a freeze.

I don't know what species or anything, I just was curious what would grow in some old fish tank water. I was hoping to use them on some gramma fry but didn't have time to pull any babies when I was growing them.
