circ pumps for a 90

48x18x24 90 gal DT (plus basement 40gal fuge and 10gal sump). MIxed tanked mostly LPS with some SPS.

Presently two Hydor Koralia 1000gph Circulation pumps then two more off brands hooked up to a hydor wave maker.

One or two of the Koralia's are going bad. Last night one of them triped the GFCI. They are a few years old.

Now looking to upgrade my circulation pumps. I've got an Apex on this tank.

Looking to make a decision very soon as when the GFCI cuts out it shuts off a lot of things.

What suggestions do you guys have for what I should do on circ pumps. I may just replace the Koralia's but looking for other options, even high end suggestions that work with my controller.

You can check out the Jaebo RW-8s. You will only need these two for your 90, as they can push some water around. You can find some deals on Ebay for them.

Gyre, Tunze and EcoTech MPs are good high end choices. Jaebo steals other people intellectual property and copies it - if you care about stuff like this, then avoid them. If you need something economical yet functional, check out the AquaMedic EcoDrift - they are about the same price a Jeabo and AquaMedic are not thieves.

I have had the same Tunze pumps on my tank for more than ten years. I clean them about every four or five and they run and run.

I did get a pair of the Tunze 6055

Um in a word - WOW. Seriously I've been using Koralia 1000gph and similer style pumps for a decade. I never could come up with the excuse to spend the money on a DC pump but now I wish I would have done this many years ago.

I've not yet programed into my Apex, but that's just bonus - it's easy to adjust with the included controller. I put on e pump on normal circ with a bit of surface shimmer, and the other I've got tuned to created a resonance wave. Took a total 10min and adjusting position/flow a bit but just wow. Now everything flows in/out. I put it on a timer so there is no surge/wave at night as well as two 1H resting periods during the day.

I forgot to order the Apex/Tunze attacement cable but will program in when I get that.

If on a budget then for sure can get by with just one pump with some other normal circ pumps.

These things are a must have. I just can't believe I waited this long
