Hi !!! i wanna get a cirrhilabrus lineatus, but i have a cuestion.... all the subadult change to a super male? , or just is a probability?

a sub adult will never turn to a terminal male unless provoked by the harem. You need many female lineatus or subadult males in order to sustain a harem to create a terminal male. If you want the terminal male colors, you need to buy one as a terminal male.

you could get a group of 5-10 females and watch one turn.... expensive though :)

Thanks Zemuron!!!

and.... if i get only one sub adult it turn? or i don´t undertend, is posible because my english is not so good. but look these words:

"The female/sub-dominant male will change into a dominant male if incorporated into the aquarium as the only fish of this species."
Live aquaria http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+1378+1765&pcatid=1765

because of these my confusion, some one say that the subdominant turn to super male if is the only one at the tank ( like liveaquaria ), and some say that need the harem ( like you ). another article say that a supermail without a harem could turn back to a sub adult.

What is the true?

I agree with zemuron114. I don't often disagree with Live Aquaria but I do on this. You cannot get a supermale without a harem. it has been my experience that female/sub-dominant males will NEVER turn into a supermale.

They will not go terminal, but LA simply states that a female/submale will go male. Unless I read it wrong.

+1. Females and submales will not go terminal. I suppose it could be done, but I'm not aware of it happening. A harem would be necessary.

Great fish...I had one for over 2 years till it jumped a few weeks ago...UGH. I had a sub male. Very aggressive as far as wrasses go though! it wouldnt let any other wrasses in the tank! killed them all within a day or 2
