City Aquarium Red Millie & ORA Red Planet

Red planet has a green base that stays green in lower light. AFAIK, the City Aquarium Red Millie is solid red, with a white base (sometimes). It (the Red Millie) is similar to Mr Ugly's Red prostrata out here in California.

the red city milli is a very slow grower (for me and 3 other people that i know) red planet is a super fast grower

I have both in my tank. The Red Planet is a tabling acro, so the growth pattern is different than the Aquarium City Red Milli. My Red Planet tends to be green all over, with red growth tips. The Milli is green with a little white on the base and red on all of the branches from the base up. Also the Milli tends to grow and larger base first and slowly grow up, where as my red planet grows branches out very fast and the encrusting is slower.

I wonder if the green / white bases on the two strains are due to differences in Fe content in the water? Or the zoox use of Fe within certain areas of the colony?

I doubt it would have to do with differences in the water, they are basically neighbors. Placed less than a foot away from each other and maybe 3 inches different in elevation. The white is only on the new growth edge

Thank you all for the infos. They all are very helpful. Because the Aquarium city red millie and people keep saying it's the red planet and I can't tell the difference either.

THe ACRM does table either. Here an older pic of mine
