Hi all,
Anyone in Norwalk know what the water quality is like? Is it OK to set up and maintain a quarantine tank using it? I saw on the city site that they're planning on flushing hydrants in April. I'm assuming this will result in some significant sediment but for how long?
Last I checked the TDS from my tap was 78. I'll recheck tonight. It's 0 out of my ro/di
Depending how long you will have the QT up. If you plan to run it for a few weeks / months, then I think it would be better to run it with ro/di. Or if you decide to use the tap, it would probably be a good idea to run GFO / Carbon and add a de-chlorinator. Thats my 2c.
Thx. Yeah, I'm running carbon on it through the whisper now. Was playing with refractometer and all the random equipment I have left over from my prior experiments with the hobby way back when. Installed the RO/DI booster pump so now I can get 0-water going in earnest.
Do you do anything to warm up the source water for the RO/DI? Efficiency has to be way down with the water temp low from the cold. I read a suggestion to put 100 feet or so of line through a heated bucket. I'm considering storing waste water in a larger brute and using that at ambient vs. trying to keep it heated. Mid-to-high 60's has to be better than the 40s coming from the cold line.
I have mine connected to both hot and cold and I let a little hot mix with the cold to get to room temperature. I've noticed it is about twice faster to fill my bucket with room temperature than with cold only water.
