clam attached to sand and tank bottom

how can i get a clam to diaattach itself from the bottom of my tank.it's sitting in the sand. i heard that if you pull it off it might kill the clam. help me out what can i do

You have to cut the byssal threads with a razor blade. Cut them as far away from the clam as possible.

ya thats what i've learned. i'm going to have to try it. i heard if you just try pulling it off it might end up dieing
