Clam Attaching

How do I get my clam to attach his foot? I have my 4" crocea sitting on the rocks and every morning he's knocked over. How and when will he attach?

I used to have the same problem. It would fall into the sand and try to attach there. I ended up covering the area I wanted him with a handful of sand and he reached through into the rock that night. Let me know if this works for you too.
