Clam attatched is bad spot???

Its a Derasa and it attatched itself with about 1/3 under a rock. So the mantle in that area is turning translucent I gues from no light. I have seen it recently trying to move itself but its attached. How do I remove it safely???

Use a razor blade very carefuly.

if you 'have' to move him use a sharp razor blade and cut the byssal thread as far from the clam as you can. i don't know if scissors would be sharp enough and they may be to big.
