clam biotope

i'd like to research more about the biotope from which photosynthetic clams come from.....can anyone point me into the right direction?

i've seen pictures of them in the wild and they're surrounded by sps....but where about in the reef are they from?

i'd like to set up a tank which focuses on clams and some sps....i'd just like some info so i can get as close to the real thing as possible

well brandon, i have seen quite a few tanks that contain only clams, and they are breath taking.

in the wild they can be found from the very fringes of reefs, to near the surface (sometimes being exposed durring spring tides)
crocera and squamosa are usualy near the surface

you will NEED excellent lighting, excelent water quality, stable water quality, calcium of 400+ constant , and a ph that stay below 8.3 , they must be fed regular planton, especialy when they are young and lack zoozanthellea.

i have a crocea now, seems to be growing well. can't wait to put together another tank. a lfs is selling clams at 40 bucks each...i should stock up
