clam colors

i have always loved the crocea and maxima clams but i prefer the color from over the top of the tank than through the glass. is there any way to get the same color through the galss as over the top? why does this hapen?

They will never look as good from a side view. The best way to see the colors from the side is to try to have your clams mantle angled towards the glass. It doesn't look the same as from above though.

yea reefman, a clam from the top and the same clam from the side looks like two different clams. sucks huh, I wish i could do the same.....

Get them to attach to a small rock and you can then angle it to get better color from the front.

It all has to do with the purity of the glass. Starfire glass will allow you to see less morphed colors because it's purer. I believe it has to do with the amount of Iron in the glass.

set up a clam with a very low stand so that you always view it from the top.
