Clam died overnight

I bought nice sized clam from a LFS, and it did great for 2 weeks, then I woke up one day to find my LTA had moved all the way across the tank and was layed out across the clam. I moved the clam, but the next morning, the clam was already halfway gone and the hermits were going to town on it. Is it possible that the LTA stung it, or should I be looking at something else. Everything else in my tank is doing great and my water parameters are good. I would like to eventually get another, but i dont want the same thing to happen.

clams are resistant to most coral stings. anemones however are much more potent. i'm not sure on how strong LTAs are but my money would be there.

i would agree, anemones are the scurge of the reef tank. they can kill almost any other coral including clams..

Thanks, next time I think I will try and make a small acrylic box that I can hang from the edge of the tank and keep the clam away from all of the undesirables.
