Hi Guys,

I've been looking for some details on proper Clam dipping. I've found lots of discussion with no direction. Anyone? Chris?

Thanks,

Rob

Cream cheese, scallions and a little worcestershire. Salt and pepper to taste and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Yeah, but what chips to use? Ruffles?

Chips!?!? Don't waste a perfectly good clam dip on chips! Get yourself a nice rye or pumpernickle loaf .... and a nice pilsner ....

Now that's the best idea yet, Ted!

Hey Chris! The clam(T. crocea) is fine and well. I can get you a pic if you still want. Anyway, I've had a serious bout of Dinos and have since redone my display. The clam is in a holding tank which is now full of Dinos(surprise!) I wanted to dip with hopes of being able to reintroduce the clam into the new display without the Dinos coming along.

Is this a stupid idea that won't work? I don't want to write off this clam, but I also want to avoid the stress and cost of having Dinos in the display again.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Rob

i wouldn't give it a FWD for that. i would first acclimate the clam to the new tank water, then brush(toothbrush) the clam well in the accumulation container, then rinse it in another container of clean water from the new tank(repeat (in a new container and saltwater) as many times as you like)

FWD too much stress for the clam?

I was hoping to do all that brushing in the dip.

it really is very stressful for clams. most of the time its used for riding parasites and pathogens as a last resort. you could in addition to what i already described, take a basting brush and brush the shell with RO/DI.

Thanks Chris!

I think I'll try the tank water method you suggested followed by QT.

If that doesn't work, I'll try the RO/DI on the shell.

If that doesn't work, everyone's invited over for Clam Dip and Pilsner! ;)
