Ive caught many a fish by just using a net. Get some food they really like and put it in the net. Set the net in the tank and let him eat the food. Slowly reach over and jerk the net up. Sometimes its best to just let him have the food a few times before springing it to get his trust level up.

Tang = Algae eater. Tangs are omnivores when hungry but prefer algae. If you don't believe me try this - mix mysis, zooplankton, blended fish etc. with some Nori and "SeaVeggies" (Palmaria palmata) and see which one your Tang goes for first. Cheap advice - get a veggie clip and offer algae on a continous basis you will find that your Tang no longer "nips" on your clam and you can keep both.

yea theres been nori 24/7 in the tank since I had it...but he still nipped...

well I don't have to worry about that anymore.... hes no longer in there
