Clam ID please?

I puchased this clam about a year ago, and it was simply labeled as "premium grade clam".
Can anyone offer some insight?

That's what I thought. I originally had that in the post, but edited out because I had no particular reason to think that other then I just thought it looked like other ones I've seen. It's seems to have been healthy, I haven't really got a ton of growth out of it though. Does it look healthy to you guys?

Looks healthy to me. The ridges (scutes) on the shell are the easiest way to differentiate croceas from maximas. Maximas usually have much larger scutes, whereas croceas are relatively smooth. It's pretty hard to confuse a crocea/maxima with any of the other tridacnids IMO.

Yes the more I learn about slams the more I find it very easy to tell. When you don't know what to look for though it can be difficult.
