I would like to know if I can have a clam of any kind, very small of course, in my nano cube? I do not have halides, I have the next step down.
Thanks for your help.
Also can I have any kind of anemone in there for my clowns? I have seen tanks with them, but didnt know if they were just being careless or if some can go in my tank.
Thanks!

This is what I have:
12 Gallon, 54W Compact Fluorescent System - Includes: Surface skimming filtration system, 1-27W square pin Dual Daylight 6700°K/10000°K Daylight bulb, 1-27W square pin Dual Actinic 420nm/460nm Actinic bulb,

Sorry I dont know all the names of the lights.

Thanks for the help!

You may be okay with a small squamosa clam but its a close call, maybe someone else can give their opinion...

As for the anemone, I wouldn't do it. 12 gallons is too small for any host species IMO, they are dirty creatures and produce alot of waste, with your small water volume it would foul your system in no time. You would also have space issues as they grow big...fast

Thank you for your reply. I hadnt even considered that about the anemone, I didnt know they were that dirty a creature!
Thanks!

Hey MaineReef, it is a pretty close call. You are running about 4.5watts per gallons. That isn't too bad. How high is your tank?

Though lighting is important, water conditions are also important with the clam. Clams require pristine water parameters.

well its a 12g aquapod, I would say it is about 1 foot high. But parts of my rock go up to about 3-4 inches from the light, I thought I could put the clam up there? I also have a 90g with the same lighting, but I couldnt get the clam that close to the light, prob 18" away, so I figured the nano was better?
Thanks!

Twelve inches is not that deep, therefore is should be okay. The only two things that I would worry about are keeping the water perfect and the intensity of your lights. Give it a shot. If your clam shows bad signs, then first check the water. If your water checks out okay, then it's probably your lighting.
