clam jumping/moving everywhere!

i just got a 3" crocea clam from a member. but anyway it was under pc's ( i don't know how long) but his colors are still very good.. but now its in my tank under a 175w mh. and i put him at the top and it keeps on "jumping" off moving around. i want him to be at the top so how can i keep him there untill its comfortable and he attaches? another thing is how long does it usually take them to attach? and if he attaches to something or somewhere i don't want it to be, how do i take him off? thanks in advanced!

Best thing to do is while he is acclimating to your lights keep him in the sand. Bury a rock in the sand, just below the surface and place the clam on it. That way he cant fall anywhere.

If they are happy where they are, they can attach as quickly as a few hours.

Once he is acclimated and attached to the rock, you can move the rock up towards the light.
