i have a deresa in my 8 gallon biocube that includes 2x18pc. teh clams been in there for a couple of weeks and has been doin fine...fully extended, responsive, no gaping...I have it a little more than half way up on the rock and it will put out these thread things and attatch itself...then after several days it will eaither have jumped to teh bottom or obviously moved only hanging by its threads...I just cut the threads (there were only a few) and moved it higher in what I think is a more secure place...why is it doing this? I ve heard they like sand better but if its a the bottom im afraid it wont get enough light...what should I do? If it will be ok at teh bottom let me know ...itll leave a space for me to buy another coral:)

NEVER CUT THE TREADS ON A CLAM... he is/was not happy in his old location for one reason or another.. try placing it in different location in your tank.. probably higher....

I put it an inch from the light..it promptly attatched some threads...fine all day....hour after lights are out its in a position where if the threads werent there it would fall ***?

im throwing it in the trash..piece of crap

I hope your kidding...

Put your dersa in the sand where it wants to be, put a flat rock under it so that it can attach its foot.

If you dont have enough light, you should have researched this before you bought the poor thing...

Get a piece of PVC and cut notch opposite from eachother and put the clam in that, wont move and should attach to that.

A PVC end cap works well too, the guy I get my clams from holds them in the 2 or 3 inch end caps, that does work well. good call !

of course i was joking... i moved him back up...keeping the threads attached and i came back today and it looked HUGE way farther out than its ever been...and I did do tons of research on "the poor thing" but i never came across hybrid kangaroo clams that try to jump with threads attached..if you find an article let me know
