Clam Lighting For 20L Gal

I have a 20L gallon with an Orbit Compact fixture.
2x65 watt bulbs. One actintic and one daylight. It would be about a foot from the light. Would it survive?

depends on what type of clam and what size. Normally however clams should be placed under MH. Your clam, if it survives might brown out or lose color. I have had a 2-3 inch maxima under 110pc lighting and while it survived it never grew.

The clam will be ok if you suppliment with phyto. It's not the light but more the size of your tank I concern. It's much harder to keep a stable environment with a tank as small as yours, so best of luck

yup! I would go with one of the slower growing clams so you can keep up with magnesium, ca, alk......

i would suggest that you wait until you have a larger tank and stronger light. even the so called "low light clams" get more then 70% of there food from light , so no matter how much you feed the clam the lighting wont be up to par. also trying to keep a clam happy by adding a lot of phyto in a tank of that size just wouldn't work. the "slower growing clams" are also the most light demanding clams, getting 90 to 100% of all there food needs from light.

i think you have more then enough light,i started a 30 clam only tank a few months ago and i am using the lunar coralife power compacts 192 watts, and my clams love it even the crocea's and the maximas i have on the sand bed...good luck
