Clam Newbie questions

Just ordered three Croceas all 3" - 5". I have an sps tank setup with 3 HQI DE MH and 2 T5s. Just wondering about the placement for the clams.

Do they have to be placed on liverock, or can it be pvc (or starboard)? I have a bb tank with a starboard bottom.

Should I place them at the bottom of the tank? (24" deep)

They do need to be placed on something that can be moved (not on the starboard). Many people use a flat rock or half shell.

If you can I would place them in the rock work.. after a couple of days there will be stuck on pretty good. They are naturally rock boring clams. Using a piece of rock under them isn't a bad idea if you really prefer them on the sand bed.
