i have a clam(dontknow what kind) its bright purple and gold, about 5-8 inches long, anyway it has been up on a rock for about 4 years, now hes not stuck anny more and wont reattach, what should i do ?????
If the mantle is extended and responsive, it probably is just fine- squamosa species tend to lose their byssal threads as they get bigger; is the shell smooth or does it have pronounced ridges ("scutes") extending from the sides? Congrats on keeping it four years-
I'd just leave it there- if you're comfortable with the intensity of your lighting at that depth; if it stays open/extended, doesn't begin to go pale in the middle (bleaching), it's fine. Good luck.
