i have a clam that keeps turning on its side. it digs into the sand and ends up on its side. any reason why?

If its a crocea then it wants to be on the rock work for sure. If you want it to stay in the sand bed, then cut a circular ring of somekind to sit it on it. Use either pvc or flexi glass ring depends on how large it is. Small crocea is not wide enough to sit straigh up by itself. Once it gets larger and wider, you can put it on the sand bed by itself no problem

When the crocea reach about that size, they will start to grow wider and heavier at the base (probably in about 6 months). At that time you can put him on the sand bed no problem.

Croceas are rock boring clams. They need to be on a rock. You can place a flat rock just under the sand for it to bore into if you want it on the bottom.
